Dialup connection crashes svchost.exe & RPC-Service

Hi!

Using Win2K Professional, when i´m connected to the
internet I get the message "Svchost has created errors and
will be closed by windows.". This stops the RPC-Service as
well.
This crash causes Internet Explorer to not be able to open
new windows and the entire system to not display dialog
boxes.
Attempting to restart the RPC-service doesn´t help, it goes
down again after a few minutes, and I still can´t display
dialog boxes after the first crash.
I´m only experiencing this issue when connected via modem.
I´ve tried applying KB-article 319161 without results.
