Dialog Box

Hello

I have a question on the open file dialog box:
the code is the following:

Sub test()

OpenBoolean = Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show

Set x = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
OpenBoolean = x.Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show

End Sub

The first line works fine however there is a problem with the third
line: I get the error "object not definied"

Can anyone help me?

define it with a dim

sub test()
dim x as application

I'm sorry I forgot to mention the code is written in Access

If I define x as an apllication I get the error that there is a type
mismatch on the code
set x=createObject("Excel.Application")

Any other hints?
