I've got a program on my computer that tries to dial-up at different times
and I can't figure out which program it is so I can set the options in it so
it won't do that. Is there some type of a dial-up log or registry key I can
look at to see what program is trying to dial-up? I have a good virus
scanner so I don't think it's a virus trying to dial-up, I've installed a
number of different software's on my computer recently so I think it's one
of those but I don't know which one. I have Win XP Home.

Click start and go to the Run command. Type msconfig and then click the
startup tab. This is a list of programs that automatically open when windows
boots up. Try unchecking individual programs that to stop them from opening
automatically with windows. Once the problem stops you will know what
program was causing it. You must reboot to apply changes though.

Thanks, it was an adware program, I quarantined it with my virus scanner. In
the past month or so I've quarantined 22 of them. Can I safely delete the
reference to those files in the registry? They're in the:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\run

Yes, make a backup of registry though before you do so. Once removed from
the registry all should be well.
Post back if you need more help.

Also download the program called "Ad-Aware". It searches and allows you to
delete Adware. Run it regularly to keep your pc adware free.
