Hi,

On my XPpro machine in dial up connection, the password I have set in the
properties isnt matched by the one in the dialup connection window. Even
when I save password. Have deleated connection and re-entered details too.
Never had this problem with ME, is it something Im not doing?

In dial up properties the password I set is 7 digits long however when
terminal window comes up it shows about 10 digits (dots of course)

I have now set it not to remember password but as the pc is a family pc I
would like it too be set as default so that all can use it without having
to remember the p/w thus eliminating irritating phonecalls from kids, whilst
at work.

Any suggestions?
TIA
Newt

Hi Newt, XP spoofs the number of password characters in the dial-up window
as a security measure. The password you entered is the one it uses, so you
should be good to go.

No, this doesn't mean anything is wrong.

It always fills in the maximum number of dots, just so someone
looking over your shoulder doesn't have a head start on guessing
your password by knowing how long it is.
