Hey all,

As the subject says, it's random, but anywhere from 5 to 45 seconds after I
connect, it disconnects. I have two pc's and the other one is fine, so it's
not the provider. I've compared one to the other and all the settings seems
to match. I've ran spybot and did a virus scan and came up with nothing. The
pc is only about 6 months old (Dell). It ran fine when I first got it, I
have since loaded some software on but nothing that is not already on my
other pc. If I do a system restore to just after when I got the pc, would
that make any difference? Would I lose anything if I did do a system
restore? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Go to Device Manager and make sure you have reasonable settings for your
modem. Go to Network Connections and make sure you are using the same
ones on the "bad" computer as you have on the "good" one.

More likely than not, you are not using the same settings to connect to
the Internet. Or if you are, there are different modems and one is not
as good as the other.
