I am the sole user of my computer and the designated computer administator. When I dialup
to connect to my ISP the connection window usually shows the checks for "Save this user
name and password for the following users: Anyone who uses this computer". For no apparent
reason the checks may change to "Save this user name and password for the following users:
Me only". When this happens the dial up attempt fails. How do I keep the dialogue checks
for "Anyone"?

Replace 'invalid' with 'net' to reply.

First thing I'd try is deleting the old connection and remaking a new one.

I work for a small dialup ISP and I can see the password attempts when a
customer dials in. If it's set on "Me only" I will see the corresponding
username in the logs but their password will usually get blanked out. Most
of the time this results in a dialup networking 691 error, although it can
cause related authentication errors.
