Hi there,

Why does Microsoft not tell me how to disable the ability to automatically
dial the connection and does anybody know how please?
I've only had my XPpro for a couple of weeks, turn it on but can't seem to
turn it off!
Your knowledgeable guidance would be appreciated, thanks in advance. lol

What type of connection do you have???

If you have a dial-up connection where you need to dial each time you connect, in Internet Explorer, go to Tools/Internet Options/Connections Tab and select the "Do not dial a connection checkbox."

If you have a high speed DSL or Cable connection, these are not dial-up and are always on. They must be disabled to prevent the connection. Open Control Panel/Network Connections. Right click the high speed connection and select Disable.

Thanks Ronnie but either I never saw or could even find it but after I had
rebooted to finalise my update it finally gave me that screen you talk of. I
think it never showed it to me because I had checked the Do not ask me again
until next time I log on!? Thanks anyway for your prompt reply. I would like
to know the server name etc. so I can add it to my newsgroups in my OLEX6,
can you assist on that as well, cheers. lol
