Hello,

I am running Win2K Pro but need to run a DHCP server. Is their some
(hopefully free) 3rd party add-on or some other way to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Ray Mitchell

Broadband routers are pretty cheap and always a good thing to have between
you and the internet anyway.

Thanks. I will do this as a last resort but I'd prefer an OS solution if
possible just to avoid another box.

The only native operating system solutions would be a server version or
possibly enable internet connection sharing.

If you currently connect to the internet through a broadband device, many of
them have DHCP server built in to them. I know my cheapy little DSL modem
has one.... good enough for 1 class C subnet. If I were to hook up a HUB to
it, it would assign IPs to all the devices I put on the network.

Thanks for the various suggestions. I found this link to a 3rd party program
that sounds like it might do what I want. I haven't tried it yet, however:

For those that have suggested an Internet connection, my application does
not connect to the Internet. If all else fails I'll just go buy on of those
cheapie routers at Fry's that provides DHCP.
