DHCP Client Service not starting at boot time

I have a XP box that cannot initially logon to networks
because the dhcp service is not running. If I start the
service in Control Panel, it will issue a DHCP request and
receive an IP address when an "ipconfig \renew" is
issued. There are no error messges in the log.
Any suggestions??

Have you checked the startup type for DHCP?

Go to a command prompt and type services.msc
This will open up the local services
Find DHCP Client
Is DHCP Client Startup Type listed as Automatic?

If not double-click DHCP Client to open up it's properties.
Change the Startup Type to Automatic using the drop down tab.

If the service is still not starting on boot, then we would need to know
what is interfereing with the service. When did you first notice this
happening? Is there any third party networking software installed? Do you
have the latest drivers for your network card?
