device manager

help!!!! my keyboard does not work -keyboard is fine not broken- went into
device manager keyboard program is not in there!! no driver either. went on
control panel-keyboard-hardware-then keyboard properites is blank-no info-
went to system configuration utility--services tab-- the human interface
device has stopped running so has universal plug+play. all this started whn
i did disc cleanup on c did SR no good usng on screen keyboard. please can
someone help me????
 
If the hardware isn't recognised, then Windows won't install a driver.

Try using a USB keyboard; this will confirm if the PS/2 keyboard scoket is
not functioning. If the socket is dead, then no matter what is plugged into
it, whatever keyboard, motherboard and then Windows won't see the keyboard.
 
is a usb keyboard theplug? cause thats the one ive been using. the hardware
isnt even there! thers nothng to recognised?! how do i find out if my socket
is dead? cause everthng was working fine until i did disc cleanup?

i do not have keyboard device in devce in device manager i have all other
devies but that one. would a dead socket erase the keyboard device in device
manager? or did the disc cleanup do it? thnk u 4 your time.
