Device manager will not open

When I try to enter the Device Manager from the system
Icon, or right click on my computer, and go to prperties
in Windows XP, I get an error message from the Microsoft
Magaement Console that says "the selected file cannot be
found". The Device Manager will not open. However,if I
go to the administrative tools, and go to computer
management, the device manager will display. This problem
just recently showed up, and I cannot find anything in
Microsoft's knowledge base that would explain what has
gone wrong. The last piece of software that i recently
installed was Music Match 8.0. I tried unistalling it,
thinking it might have been part of the trouble. However,
that did not resolve the issue. Any help or suggestions
would be appreciated.

Did you try doing a system restore or rebooting to the

safe mode menu, and select "last known good
configuration"? Or if these do not fix this, run the
system file checker tool, start, run, and type this
in, "sfc /scannow" with that space after the sfc, and have
your XP CD handy too.
