Device manager shows nothing

I was uploading some pictures from a digital camera tonight and all at once,
Windows 2000 device manager is not showing any of the installed hardware.
The hardware has ceased working and I cannot seem to get it back. I checked
to make sure "Plug and Play" was turned on. It was.

I have tried to re-install but that has done me no good either.

I am running Win 2000 SP-4.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem?

Should I just re-install Windows?

From your message, not sure if you've tried re-installing or not. If not,
try "Safe Mode". If it work properly in safe mode, then there may be some
type of driver problem. Make sure your drivers were not changed. Also, try
"Last Known Good" this may help.

Thanks for the information.

I got frustrated with it and since I had some time on Monday, I reloaded
Windows. Everything now appears to be fine.
