Device Installer Error

I can't find any information for a problem I have been
having when Windows tries to install devices or programs
(including updates). The error reads:

"Windows could not load the installer for Image. Contact
your hardware vendor for assistance."

If this were true, I would be contacting a lot of
hardware vendors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an old post but I am having the exact same problem.
have Windows XP without SP2 and when I try to connect my digita
camcorder via the firewire port I get this error

It could help if someone finnaly find a fix for this error. I have the same
error for the hard drive I replaced in a machine in production that I can't
reinstall. It doesn't affect the machine performance, but I would get rid of
this error message.

I tried to find a solution on several forums, but the only solution that
appear to work fine is the reinstallation of the operating system.

I also have this problem installing my Lifecam vx-1000 on Vista Premium Lite...present cam driver works fine on vista basic and ultimate...how can i solve this problem?
