When I start my computer I get a message saying it has just recovered from a
serious error. Making a report to Microsoft it says the crash was caused by
a device driver. I have no idea what device and the search during the error
reporting does not identify it either. Where do you begin to figure this one
out?

Thank you

Sounds like I have the same problem. I get a message that the system has recovered from a "serious error" and asks if I want to send a report, which I almost always do. Then a message comes back saying that the problem was caused by a device driver and suggests a variety of general solutions, most of which I've tried. I can't seem to associate the problem with any device or software and I've been getting these errors for several months. When I look at the device manager it indicates that all my devices are working properly. I've used Microsoft update to search for updated drivers and did find and update for my video adapter, but it didn't solve the problem. How can I identify which device or device driver is causing the problem

Thanks.

you know, its amazing how often this happens....i think its about time mircrosoft gets its lazy rear around to fixing this problem, instead of blaming it on other programs. i have the same problem, but two of my error reports showed up as the nvidia graphics card driver. tried updating it....didnt help. and no one seems to want to help out, either...of the eight or nine almost idencical posts ive seen, not one had a good answer to the problem, which i KNOW is in the xp pro operating system.

Perhaps Nvidia needs to pay more attention to coming up with drivers??

I also have this problem and have no idea which device driver is causing it. I have another problem with it - everytime I try to download anything it clicks my screen instantly black and crashes. When I restart my computer is when i get the messag
saying it has just recovered from a serious error. Making a report to Microsoft it says the crash was caused b
a device driver. I am going to pay the $35.00 to Microsoft to solve my problem over the phone. it's all I can do.
