I keep getting a blue screen every once in a while that
tells me that I have a device conflict. I report it to MS
and the response comes back that they can't identify which
device. It performs a memory dump also.

I have checked hardware devices under System and none show
any conflict. I did updates on drivers and eventually at
the suggestion of a techie from my computer manager, ran a
Windows Repair. Still have the problem. Any ideas???

Hi

Can you, please, post the error number that shows with blue screen? That can help to isolate the problem.

Check your memory modules!!!!

I have had a tough time with these blue screens. Always looking at the
Event Viewer and not getting a solution. It was suddenly that this started
(after an upgrade).
Later I remembered, I had a few weeks earlier fixed an extra memory stick
in my system. I guess it has to do with the "parity" or so. When I took it
out Lo and Behold, never had or seen the blue screens again.
Problem is, these days the memory modules come in all forms (CL2, CL3, ECC,
Cas etc etc). You combine them anyhow and fix them in the system and you
never suspect they are trouble causers. I had to reinstall XP 4 times
before realising this. The first was with 128MB no problem, I installed SP1
and thought an upgrade to 256MB was better, so I put an extra 128 in the
slot. The trouble began. Calling MS didn't help. The repairers asked for
uninstalling and reinstalling. Over and over, you can imagine. I thought
SP1 was the guilty addition and so kicked it out. New reinstall!!! Till, I
realised that when I had 128 there was no problem. To be on the safe side,
I have got only 1x 256MB and no Blue screens /Memory dumps/ etc etc.

So who knows. Give it a short if you have done an upgrade recently.

good luck.
