Determining Response Time

I have spreadsheet that has a start date & time field and an end date & time.
I'm trying to find out the exact number of minutes and hours difference
between the two. Subtracting the two fields works fine if the times occur on
the same date. If the dates are different the formula only pays attention to
the time portion of the field. Any ideas would be appreciated.

It will work fine on different days too, just format the result cell as
[h]:mm
