William,
I can get the OS Name say Windows XP in this key
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion but not the Edition
ie, Professional or Home edition
Is there any way to find that in registry

Hi there Genji,

What exactly do you need to pull it from the registry for? Is this for a
script? We might be able to get it from a different location.

Best Regards,.

Hi William
Yes, I`m using Script to pull the registry key and am doing the remote
registry access to find out the remote machines OS, I can get the part
of information from this registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion, I also want to know whether it is of Professional or
Home Edition. In case of Windows 2000 whether it is Professional or
Server and so on. Hope I made it clear.
Help me out

Put > windows xp professional < into Find in regedit & it found quite a
few entries.
Even better for info, is > Find in registry using RegSeeker.
RegSeeker
http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
RegSeeker is a perfect companion for your Windows registry!
RegSeeker includes a powerful registry cleaner and can display various
informations like your startup entries, several histories (even
index.dat files), installed applications and much more! With RegSeeker
you can search for any item inside your registry, export/delete the
results, open them in the registry. RegSeeker also includes a tweaks
panel to optimize your OS! RegSeeker is FREE for personal use only!
My personal use, is to, delete only the Green entries.
Click on Select All and choose > Select all Green items.
Right click to delete.

Thanks for ur replies,
But I dont want to use WMI, since i am already using Remote Registry to
fetch the Installed Applications,. Is this possible to get it thro
Registry or i have to use WMI to get these information alone.
