HI

I'm having a problem with IE 6 runing on a Windows 98 pc, connected to the
internet via a LAN connection.

When I run IE, I just get a message in the bottom left hand corner that it
is detecting the proxy settings, nothing else hapens, IE won't load any web
pages at all. I can't even go to windows update and update to the latest
version of IE to solve this problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my computer to stop trying to
detect it's proxy settings, none of which are set manually incidentaly.

Thanks in advance

Michael

In IE go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >>
LAN Settings >> uncheck Automatically detect settings
