We have a broadband connection to the internet.
When we start up IE6, we get a message on the left hand
bottom corner of the screen saying "detecting proxy
server" and this lasts for about 20 seconds before the
home page appears.
Is there a way to speed this up ? On my other computer,
the page appears immediately and the internet settings
are the same.

Thanks Henri

It worked !

One of the suggestion found in the search.

Go to IE tools, internet options, connections. Click on the settings button
and turn off the option to automatically detect settings.

.

Yes - I was having the same problem except the message in
the status bar was "detecting proxy settings . . . "

In IE, I went to tools - internet options - connections -
LAN Settings and then unchecked "Automatically detect
settings" and I was able to then connect immediately to my
home page instead of waiting three minutes.

Thanks Henri!
