Detect connections?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to networking, and I have a question. When surfing the web
with Internet Explorer, or using another program to access a resource on the
Internet, multiple connections to various files occur. My question is, is it
possible to detect or log those connections? In other words, when Internet
Explorer or another program makes multiple connections to a website address
in order to access mulitple files, is there some program that will allow me
to see a list of each connection and the corresponding address? What I'm
looking for is something that might produce a log file or something that
displays the time and address for all connections during a given session.

Thanks in advance,
jb

JB,

For a quick GUI view, try TCPView
<http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/tcpview.shtml>. For a more detailed
GUI view, with logging ability, try Port Explorer
<http://www.diamondcs.com.au/portexplorer/index.php?page=home>. Both are free,
or there is a paid version of the latter, which includes a small packet
analyser.
