Hi All,

Second Post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have got a Trojan "Quicksearch bar" which I am unable
to destroy. I have tried Adaware SE pro, Spybot Search &
destroy, and also Moosoft, (in safemode) it say's that
the trojan has been quarantied and killed off, but when I
reboot the machine (which incidently takes over 5
minutes) to log backin, the trojan reappears. Also in
addition to that the start and taskbar at the bottom of
the screen does not show up, consequently am unable to
click on start and access any programs.

Please could someone help this is my sons machine and he
needs it for his school work.

Kind Regards

Peter.

Had a similar problem with roings and webhancer....

Try Start -> run -> enter "msconfig" without the quotes and click OK.

Check the startup tab for suspect processes. Try comparing your list with
another PC and check any differences here and/or google.

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

There were 60 (Sixty) suspect processes on my wifes PC all with names that
looked semi random! I had to disable all of them before I could reboot her
PC without the pest coming back.

I see you don't have a start button. Try booting in safe mode and see if you
have one.

Have you gone to safe mode and done msconfig from the run
prompt to remove any startup items that are not needed?
This program could be getting loaded from the startup and
this would solve the problem.

oh yeah also turn off the system restore feature.
Microsoft will tell you this a bad idea but any tech
worth a dime will tell you that most virus and spyware
hide there since anti virus/spyware programs are
programmed not to check there

This is what is known as a BHO. Or Browser Help Object. There are a couple of
good programs that will help you to remove it. BHODemon is about the easiest
to use. HijackThis is another one, but is more complicated to use. Get and
install SpywareGuard. This will stop your browser from ever being hijacked or
adding garbage like you have now. First thing is to stop any program from
loading that you don't want. go>start\run and type in msconfig. Now click the
startup.ini tab and uncheck and program you don't want. Then run AdAware and
Spybot, make sure you have their latest definition. Then run BHODemon as well
as SpywareGuard. That should fix you right up. Post back if it doesn't> {]:~)

.
Still did not solve the problem. It still takes up to 5
minutes to load and no start / taskbar at bottom of
screen.

Kind Regards.

Congratulations--you're in contention for Stupid Post of
the Month! Any tech who says that is, indeed, worth a
dime, but not a penny more.
