Desktop tab missing from 'Display Properties' in Control Panel

When I go to 'START', 'CONTROL PANEL' then 'DISPLAY', the 'DESKTOP' tab is missing from the menu bar in the Displa
Properties dialog box

As not knowing what has happened to it, or how to get it back is driving me nuts, I would very much appreciate any hel
on this
