Desktop Shortcuts - Removable etc drives

In order to access them easily I have created desktop shortcuts for my CD
ROM, ZIP and removable card drives.

However from time to time XP seems to fail to recognise these as drives, and
tries to open them as files. I then get 'Missing Shortcut' error messages,
eventually it finds a file on the system something like the 'd:\' or
whatever and offers to relink the shortcut or delete it.

In the case of the CD and ZIP drive icons this is despite them displaying
the right-click options such as 'eject' which obviously identfy them as a
drive and not a file.

How can this be fixed?

Thanks.

Looks like there may be a general fix 'sometime'.

At least it's not something I've screwed up.

Gunslinger;
There is a fix, but it hasn't always worked for me.
