I'm new to computing, need help. I put a cd picture disk in my d drive,
viewed my pictures, right clicked [one that I wanted on my desktop] and saved
to my desktop. When I checked my desktop all that was there was a small white
box with a red 'x' within. When I double click, it does nothing. When I
right, I get the dialog box for desktop changes but the little white box just
sits there and won't go away. I want to get rid of it but don't know how. Can
you help me out? Please. Thanks

In the Display applet in Control Panel.
On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop.
Under Desktop cleanup, click Clean Desktop Now.
Follow the directions in the Desktop Cleanup Wizard.

Hello Mark,
Thanks for the tip. I had already tried that but it didn't work, but as it
turned it was just a matter of unlocking my desktop which allowed me to
delete the unwanted icon. Thanks again for your responce, much appreciated.
