I came across your Server Performance Monitor utility and I am testing
it now to perform baseline analysis of my servers. I was wondering if
there is a desktop edition to analyze why desktops are running sluggish
at work.

I seen a few articlesa that briefly go over Performance monitor util
but is there a site that goes over the counters in better detail? I am
dealing with several brands of PCs and versions of Oss so having to
perform a baseline study is a chore in itself. Aren't there any
specific guidelines to look for?

*Whose* Server Performance Monitor utility? If you think you are addressing
Microsoft here, let me explain that you haven't reached them.

This is a peer support newsgroup==microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. We are
all just Windows XP users here, helping each other if and when we can. We
are not Microsoft employees (not even those of us with "Microsoft MVP"
behind our names; that's an honorary title for having provided consistently
helpful advice) except for an occasional employee who posts here
unofficially on his own time.

Well, on the offshoot that I do get an MS employee here....
But ok, so maybe MS won't popin and monitor their channels, even the
public ones. I still would like to see if there is a desktop version
of the SPA

Here is my main issue. I have a test lab with a AD DC which is the
file server. I have a desktop that is playing MP3 from the file folder
and transferring mass volumes of data from it at the same time. While
I am transferring the data, the MP3 are extremely eratic and choppy.
I'm trying to see where the issue is but I'm not seeing much in SPA.
Any thoughts on which performance counters I can use on both ends to
try to pinpoint the issue?
