Desktop Icons

Hi,

Can anybody tell me how to make my desktop icons transparent so I can see my
background and not the shadow of the icon. I want just the icon and the
letters no ugly shadow!

Hold down the WIndows key and press Pause/Break. On the Advanced
tab, go to the Performance area and click Settings. At the bottom
of the window, check the box "Use drop shadows under icon titles
on Desktop."
 
It didn't work do you have any other suggestions? The shadows are still under
the icons and I want the icons to be transparent
