Change Icon Spacing.
1. Open Control Panel | Display
2. Open Appearance
3. Click on Advanced button
4. Choose which Icon spacing (vertical/horizontal) you want to change from
Item drop-down list
5. Change the value.

Alternatively, right-click on the deaktop, choose "Arrange icons by" and
uncheck "Align to grid." You can them manually place the icons wherever you
want them.
