Hello
I have on my desktop some icons that when I click on these I get a long list of applications as choices and when I go to "Properties", I have 3 tabs ...GENERAL ...SHORTCUT...COMPATIBILITY. On these, I am able to go to the Shortcut tab and can choose to change the icon.
On other desktop icons, I have the "generic" icon for explorer and a short list of applications ..
How can I get these single tabs to show the 3 tabs mentioned above and be able to have the same applications as the good ones, and to change the icon for these.

Amber,

If you mean Internet Explorer, that's a system file.
You can change the name, but I don't believe that you can change the icon.
You can, however, create a shortcut to IE and modify *that* icon.

Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Paste this in the Box:

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

Click Next | Click Finish

Now right click the new shortcut | Properties |
Shortcut tab | Change Icon button

You can remove the original IE icon from the Desktop, if you want.
Right click the Desktop | Properties | Desktop tab | Customize
Desktop button | UNCheck: Internet Explorer | OK |Apply | OK

Worked like a charm ...
Thank you very much for your guidance and in particular, your "step-by-step" directions.
