Desktop Icons rearranging when docking machine

When I dock my laptop my icons tend to move back into thier default position,
is there a way to move them and keep them where I move them without them
repositioning when I undock and redock my machine?

Not sure if this will help ... can't test the theory but ... right click on
your desktop (away from any icons) and make sure that .. under the 'arrange
icons by" section the "auto arrange" option is not selected

This is the only thing I can think of but it may help
