Several times during day, computer just freezes up. Have to shut down with
power button. Have cleaned cpu fan, pulled NIC to no avail. Any other ideas?
Thanks.

You state you cleaned CPU fan but are you sure it is working for the symptoms
you describe are of a overheating CPU. Open the case and boot, see/hear if
the fan is really working.

Yes, I have the cover off and fan is running.

forgot to mention, I can open the cd drives, but can't access anything over
the network. Just have to shutdown and restart.

I had a similar problem myself, only mine showed up when I inserted any form
of disk into the optical drives.
It turned out that it was due to both the RAM chip getting a little too hot,
and a little too full. I got round it by installing a program called FreeRAM
XP Pro which you can get from http://www.yourwaresolutions.com
Hopefully this will sort the problem out for you.

Tried that, but didn't work. Foze up about 5 min. later. In the event
viewer, get a redbook_err_unsupporte_drive. Doesn't say what drive, but says
"This drive has not been shown to support digital audio playback".
Replace optical drive.
I have a cdrom, cdrw, floppy and 2 HD. The event ID is 10.
THis event is showing about the same time as computer lockup as near as I
can tell.
