Desktop font colour

Hi group
A coloured box appears around the font on my desk top. How can I make it
transparent as it should be? I have been to properties settings etc. ticked,
unticked every where obvious.I have also locked and unlocked web items in
arrange icons without success! any ideas please...Paul
 
Have you tried right clicking on the background> properties> appearance tab> reselect the theme you are using (ie. windows XP style and color scheme)? This should restore your desktop and windows color/font themes, etc. Sometimes it just needs to be reset when something goes foul...

Tried that... didn't get the T Shirt
Any other ideas would be gratefully recieved.
