Desktop dont have any icon,not even 'START' icon

Its a dual boot, c:xp d:2k e: storage. After the installation xpsp2 in C:, I
went to Windowupdates and install KB873374/885250/867282/873333. Somewhere
along the installation think its 'GUI', it ask a question I CLICK NO, THEN
CLICK YES.......... the process continue and restart the pc. Now, when boot
up,
only the wall paper and there is not even the START icon.

Alt/ctl/delete/File/New task and type in
"%systemroot%\explorer.exe", it gives me
{{"window Explorer" -window explorer has encounterd a problem and needs to
close......... error signature Applame: explorer.exe AppVer:6.0.2900.2055
ModName:kernel32.dll code: 0xc00000005 }}

In "safe mode",it gives me 'ADMINISTRATOR' icon and User X icon. When I
install xp, I only have I user name X.

Need your guidance to resolve this monster as XP is completely new to me,

This is normal behaviour. Log on as the Administrator and then via the
Control Panel > Add and remove Programs remove the Windows Updates. Or
use the System Restore tool.
Now reinstall the updates one by one.
