Try a previous restore point. Next time dont let MS update your drivers.

unfortunately, this is s new computer and i didn't have a restore point
beforehand. could i just roll back the driver? which one would it be? also,
if microsoft shouldn't update the driver, how should i update it?

Right-click on Desktop and select Personalize/Desktop Background. Down on
the bottom are 3 different display settings. Try using the one on the
right. The first one stretches images to fill the screen, the second tiles
them, and the third should leave them original.

Cheers, Dave

Say what?
BAD, BAD, BAD advice.
Totally irrelevant to the problem.

So easy to fix. See DoubleDAZ's correct reply.

Right click the desktop, select Personalize and then Desktop Backgrounds.
Look at the bottom of the window and you should have 5 (five) settings to
choose from, one of them being the Tile setting. Have a nice day.
