I saved some photos that I used to use as desktops. My girl friend now uses
my computer too. How can I permanetly delete these photos so not to cause an
embarrassing moment. They are only on the display list and not in any file
that I can find.

Well, they have to be somewhere on your hard drive. From MVP Ramesh -
Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths:

BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures [& ALL THE
SUB-FOLDERS]
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer
C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes [*** & ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS ***]

Look in c:\windows
or
Start > Search > For files or folders...
If you do not already have set: show hidden files and folders, not to hide
extensions of known types and not to hide protected operating system files.
On the menu bar click Tools > Folder Options... > View tab.
Put a tic for show hidden files and folders, uncheck hide extensions of known
types and hide protected operating system files.
Click Apply > Ok.

In the search window select Advanced Options and put a check in everything
that's not relevant.
Select c:\windows as the directory to search.
In the "files or folders named" input box type:
file name (replace file name w/the actual file name) and click the Search Now
button.
or
file name.bmp (replace file name w/the actual file name) and click the Search
Now button.
or
*.bmp (this will get many many results)

If not found in c:\windows, change the search to c:\.

First look in mypictures
If your using windows XP windows stores it's preloaded background images in
c:\windows\Web\Wallpaper.

If you know the exact name of the image you are using do a search when you
find the picture open windows explorer goto to the loacation of that file and
delete it
Hopes this helps

Thank you very much! This was so easy, problem solved. I won't be doing
"that" again.

You're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to let me know.
