when i right click i go to properties, then under the desktop tab, all my
pictures on my computer are visible in the background list. how do i get rid
of this and have only the windows backgrounds displayed?

You are so close to fixing the problem yourself!

You right click on the desktop, Click properties, then click the Desktop Tab.

In the Background choices window, use the scroll bar on the right and scroll up to the top.

At the top you will find "(NONE)"

Click on "None" and then click OK.

All desktop pictures disappear.

sorry but after selecting none, all my pics still remain in the list? is
there any way to get rid of them?

Yes there is a way to get rid of them in the list

Open Windows Explorer and go to the C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper folder

Delete the pictures you do not want to see in the list.
