Desktop alert window

Outlook 2003

I have lost the little pop up window that tells me I have new mail.

It is checked in advanced options.

How can I get it back.
 
I just reduced the size of the OL window and send myself a new mail. When I
received it the alert window did not pop up at all. Only the sound and the
mail download in the try area.

I always use full screen and get the desktop alert to show.
