Deploying an image without using Sysprep

What are the consequences of deploying a non-sysprepped image to several
workstations? And what would be the consequence of having all these
workstations on the same network? I understand the computer name will be the
same but that's easily fixable. But what happens if a computer has not been
sysprepped to make it "generic"?

And how will you be able to tell this is a problem?

To be on the safe side of unique computer SIDs onn the same network run
freeware NewSID from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/newsid.shtml
and change Computer Names too.
If Fixed IP addresses are involved, then those need to change too.
If you have created the image from a machine installed using a Volume
License media, nothing else should present a problem.
If you haven't installed from that media, you are facing a legal issue of
the install not being permitted on more than one box.
