I want to know if it's possible to setup my Outlook to deny another user's
preference to send a email read receipt.

Thanks

Usually settings on Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Tracking Options will do
the job.

If using Exchange, then no. But it is version dependent for Outlook as to
whether you can deny for Internet mail. Post your version for the proper
answer.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Joseph Scalise asked:

We use Exchange, thanks for the reply Milly.

Just for the record I am using Outlook 2000 9.0.0.2711

If you are running Exchange 2000/2003, this utility could help:

Well, I'm using Exchange and I seem to have the ability to deny receipts
(i.e., the options are available to me). Are you saying that Exchange
ignores the Outlook settings for these options?

Brian, I see the option there under "What to do to read reciept requests"
but both radio buttons are greyed out, cannot select either.

I don't see any "What to do to read receipt requests". On
Tools>Options>Email Options>Tracking Options at the top I see:

Use these options to verify the date and time a message has been receive by
the recipient.

Under this are three check boxes:
Process requests and responses on arrival
Process receipts on arrival
After processing, move receipts to

and then there's a text box containing a folder name and with a Browse
button to its right. Below that, there's a check box that's titled

Delete blank voting and meeting responses after processing

The comes

For all messages I send, request

with two check boxes below that labeled

Read receipt
Delivery receipt

Then comes a line, below which it reads

Use this option to decide how to respond to requests for read receipts.
Only applies to Internet Mail accounts.

This is followed by three radio buttons labeled

Always send a response
Never send a response
Ask me before sending a response

Finally, there's an OK and a Cancel button at the bottom right. All of the
check boxes and buttons are active for me.

This obviously answers my question to Milly. Becasue I have a POP account
in my profile along with my Exchange account, the options on this dialog box
are active whereas you, with just an Exchange account, don't have the
ability to enable them since they apply to Internet accounts only, as the
dialog box says.
