Do the newer Dell's (abt 2 years old, Dimension 2400) still use a
proprietary connector, or do they now use a standard ATX PS?

Thanksm

Count the number of orange wires on the 20-pin connector of the PSU.
If there's only one, then it's Dell proprietary (that wire is the
Power-Good status rather than +3.3V, and on a separate 6-pin connector
are blue wires with the white stripes running down them are the +3.3V
lines), but if there are at least three, then it's standard ATX. Be
careful because both 20-pin connectors are physically the same.

Good question! I have a 2350, but I'll have to look closely to see if it's
standard or not. Watch this space.

Thanks for the reply...that's seems an easy way to check. I was checking for
my father-in-law, and while at work today, went to Dell's support site and
from their docs, it seems to be a standard ATX PS...with one exception, pin
18 has no connection. Works for me.

FWIW, I just had a 2350 come in from the field for repair, and it had a bad
PS.

I just stopped at the local computer mega-store and picked up an Antec
350watt PS.

Works just fine in the 2350.

Thanks! I'll have him give it a try...

Whether or not that serves the OP, it's nice to know for me: that's what my
Dell is.
