Late for the party? The party has ended, and all have gone home. Users
have been screaming for a backup system of ***THEIR*** windows partition and
any other partitions since circa Windows 95.
Sounds like a RAID 1 system, or some software onboard. RAID 1 requires no
user intervention, and was only available on SCSI systems when introduced.
SCSI is very expensive vs ide. Hardware driven RAID is hard for the user to
break, even accidentally. Last couple of years, they finally introduced
RAID for ide drives. Shortly afterwards, SATA came to market. Then shortly
after, RAID for SATA. That's when all was cheap, dependable, user
non-intervention was available. So, it really hasn't been a long time
period since then.
Checking the configuration for the XPS 400 (mentioned in your weblink as 1
or 3 the backup is offered as an option) possibilities, don't see a backup
system offering. I do see SATA RAID systems, although the 80GB mentioned in
your link is not mentioned on these for SATA RAID.

I would go with the 160GB SATA RAID 1 system for most users.
