Deletion problems

In the midst of typing on Word the font colour suddenly changed from Black to Orange. I tried to delete and reinstate Black font colour - nothing works

I have tried the 'delete' button, the 'backspace' button, etc. but the cursor just glides over the orange words

Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what is the solution

All suggestions will be gratefully received..

You've inadvertently switched on 'track changes'. Tools > Track Changes >
Highlight changes.
