As a learner, attempted to create letterhead template, with limited success.
After several attempts finished up with a number of letterhead documents not
required, which were dumped to recycle bin and deleted.
However, column on the right-hand side of the screen which lists 'Open a
document' and 'New from template' etc, etc, still lists everything I created,
though most are deleted.
Question;
How do I remove these references to deleted letterheads from this column.

Hi Pumpkin,

Open the Tools > Options dialog and click the General tab. About in the
middle of the dialog is an option labeled "Recently used file list" and a
number in a box. Change the number to 0. Close and then reopen Word. Now
there won't be any old documents in the list. (Sorry, you can't choose to
delete some and not others.)

Go back to the same dialog, click to check the option (because setting it to
0 also turns it off), and increase the number if you want more than 4
documents to be listed. (There still won't be any in the list until you
start opening more documents.)

If you want a semi-permanent menu of documents you use often, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WorkMenu.htm.

Actually, you can delete them selectively if you do it from the File menu.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen, then click on the document you wish to remove (be
careful--this shortcut will delete *any* menu item). This will also remove
it from the task pane.
