I have win XP on a c drive and a slave drive g of files for back up and tv
recordings with no OS.
I required more space on the G drive so deleted files.
I have the same space used up as I did before deletion.I have emptied the
recycle bin.I have added up all the file sizes in the folders and come to 50
% at least of the space apparently used.
I checked used space by looking at properties of G drive, also by analysis
with Norton systemworks. Both are the same.
I have defragmented the disc thinking it might realize there are no files to
rearrange. No change.
Any ideas.?

Empty your Norton Protected files from the Recycle Bin!

Dear Richard
Thank you for the advice. It freed a lot more. (Didnt realize Norton was
actually on the G drive and was concerned to dump something protected.!)
Howeverstill 30gb of unaccountable used space compared to sum of all files,
any further suggestions?
