How can I delete win xp pro from my system??
So I can install home edition???
It used to be you can just pop in the cd (like for win 95-
98) and an option for deleting or formating and then re-
installing was there. I tried to put in xp cd but where
the hell did it go????

To go from xp pro to xp home you will have to format and install xp home.
Boot to the xp home cd and follow prompts. Make sure to delete partition and
format. Or use a win9x floppy boot disk, run fdisk, format, boot to xp home
cd, install.

Hi

Boot your PC with a Win ME EBD, select the 2nd option, then at the A: prompt type "format c:" - without the quotes. Then put the XP Home Edition CD into your CD drive, change to the i386 folder and run winnt.exe - not forgetting to run smartdrive before you start the XP install.

How do I boot up win xp home with the cd??
i tried to run it when comp boots but it just isnt
reading it in the cd drive or it has a lock to keep it
from booting...what do you think??

Hi

Sorry - it's the way that I prefer to install XP. The XP CD is bootable and during the setup process you are given the option to format your hard disk/partition. The Win ME EBD does format from DOS.

Make sure that your CD drive is the 1st bootable via the BIOS, then boot your PC from the XP CD and follow the on-screen instructions.

You'll need to access your BIOS and instruct it to boot from CD first,
before the harddrive. Then you'll see what you're looking for as your
system will guide you through the installation process easily and
effortlessly.

Go into the bios and set the first boot device as cdrom. Usually first
screen or manual tells you how to, get into the bios(sometimes it's F1, f2,
delete, tab). Look for boot device order and set cdrom to first boot device.
