I would like to delete Windows Media Player in the Start Up Window. How do I
do this? Shelley Gray

i'm no expert (just an end-user, i'll admit it), but if you right-click on
wmp in the start menu, it should give you the option of removing the
'shortcut' without removing the program... can anyone else confirm this, in
case i'm wrong?

Entries in Start | Programs are normally shortcuts (although they don't have
to be). As you say, deleting a shortcut does not uninstall the associated
program.

What do you mean by the "Start up Window"? Do you mean you want to remove
the entry for Windows Media Player from the Start menu? Or do you mean WMP
starts when you login and you want to stop that?

If the former then just right click the entry for it in the start menu and
choose delete. If the latter, remove the shortcut to it on these two
folders.

C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Ok, so did you look in those two folders I listed earlier and remove the
entry for it? If it's not in one of those two folders, then from Start |
Run | msconfig | Ok, click on the startup tab and uncheck the entry for it.
