Dianne

I am newby to computers. Cannot find info on how to
delete an unused account from my sign on passport account
list. We have a shared computer, and want to delete my
son's unused account from this list. He uses another
account via hotmail to access. Also, will this delete the
entire account or just the address from the sign on list?
Please advise. Thank you.

Perhaps you can help me as well.
I have tried the 'normal' way to delete unused/unwanted
passport accounts in XP prof (i.e. through Stored User
Names and Passwords --> Remove), but there is even no
reaction when the Remove button is pressed.
There is no difference is the user is logged in to any
passport site or not.
Internet access or not does not make any difference aswell

I would appreciated any assistence.
I woudl also appreciate if any answer could be forwarded
to my e-mail address.

Thanks in advance

Marc

Greetings Dianne,

You can remove Passports in the sign in list by clicking
the Start Button, then click the
Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in the Control
Panel. Select your account name, and
then on the left side of the screen, under Related
Tasks, click 'Manage my Network
Passwords'. In the window that opens, you can remove
accounts by clicking the passport you
wish to delete [denoted by (Passport)], and then click the 'Remove' button.

This won't actually remove the account, it will just
remove the name from your PC/list.

Hi Marc,

Are you using the Dutch version of Windows XP? Unfortunately, there is a current bug in the
Dutch version of Windows XP which prevents you from removing passport information from your
account. As such, this won't work, and there is no other way of doing it. As far as I know,
this hasn't been fixed, but you may want to run WindowsUpdate
(http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com on that computer to see if there's an update that will
fix this).

Hi, John. I checked your website, but I was looking for something that will
stop msmsgs.exe from running process on bootup. I deleted Passport.NET from
the accounts panel, but msmsgs is STILL a running process in the background.
What I want is to disable the thing unless I launch the program. Is that
possible using XP?

Thanks

Your site DID have a lot of good info

Greetings,

Yes it is possible. Firstly, if you haven't already done so, open up the Windows Messenger
main window, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences tab, uncheck "Run this
program when Windows starts" and click OK.

Next (or if you've already done that), do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton
added a new "instant messaging scanning" feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict
with Messenger and cause this behavior. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the
Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open
Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger
and click OK.
