Does anyone know how to clear in Windows XP Pro the
history list for (i) the XP Run command; and (ii)the XP
search files command??

Someone suggested using the unsupported tweak UI tool for
WindowsNT -- I have not tried this. Is there another way
to do this that is supported by MS??

Clear IE History, AutoComplete, Clear the TIF, Clear the RunMRU, Typed URL's
and Clear List:

XP Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Advanced tab
| Recent Documents | Clear List.

Classic Start Menu:
Right click the Start button | Properties | Customize button | Clear button

[[Removes the list of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web sites
from the Documents
menu.]]

Have cleared recent docs and autocomplete (does not
help). Please explain how to "clear the TIF, Clear the
RunMRU, Typed URL's and Clear List" -- must this be done
with TweakUI??

Thanks for your help. I have done everything you have
suggested, but it has not cleared the run item history,
nor the search item history. Using the tweakUI tool
appears to stop XP from placing new items on the MRU
lists, but does not clear the exiting list.

Further searches of the knowledgebase indicate that it is
possible to clear the MRUs by editing the Windows
registry -- I have looked at the selected registry MRU
keys and they do not contain items other than "Default,"
but the lists are still there.

What to do now??

Try one of these, they're quicker and you do not have to mess around in the
registry.
