do you really delete all files forever when deleting a partition durin
a format?Someone told me he could run a program and give me a printou
of everywhere I`ve been etc. which is accurate

both statements are accurate.

but you don't have to delete your file system/format the harddrive
to erase the places you have been.

First, partitioning is done before a format, not during it, they are 2
different operations.
With the proper software, data on a deleted partition is recoverable.

If you write new files over the whole partition can you still ascertain
what was there before?

That's the whole thing about forensic data recovery. Takes about 7
rewrites to oblibliterate the residual magnetic signature.

I SEE..HOW DO I DO THAT THEN

instead of sending regular files, docs and pics use
to the recycle bin, use programs like incenerator or file shredder
that re deletes those files up to 7 times or more, then writes over
the space with a bunch of zeros.

do a search for the above type of programs.

for erasing the places and data by using the net,
then you need to use programs that erase your "tracks"

again there are a bunch of programs that do this.

specialized softwares dedicated to pics / porn have also been
developed...

begin your search at download.com or filehippo.com
there are others as well.

because it is a pretty wide area, you can input from others if
you can be a bit more specific with what you want to do....

For normal intents and purposes, and a typical user, deleting a partition
removes access to any previously written files.

Formatting does not delete a partition.

There are tools out there that will find files after formatting a partition
related to those files, or removing a partition related to those files.
