My Dell XP is almost 5 years old, runs great, but I have TONS of these in my
Windows folder: $NtUninstallKB..... and $NtUninstallQ..... folders and files.
These slow down defrags, virus checks, etc. I don't plan to ever uninstall
any previous updates, since the computer runs well. Can I safely delete
these or will I regret it during a future Service Pack or some other update?
Please comment.

If you are certain that you won't be uninstalling the updates, then by
all means delete them. The do tend to take up space that you can well
use for something else.

If you feel comfortable within the Registry you can navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

and delete all the KB##### entries so that they don't show up in your
Add/Delete programs listing.

G_P, see below for reference,

I'll do as you say and delete all the Uninstall KBs and Qs. However,
regarding the registry thing, I do see all the entries in
HKEY_Local_Machine..... that you wrote about, BUT there are NO KBs in my
Control Panel's Add/Remove list! What's with that? Is that what you were
writing about? If so, do I really need to remove the (many) registry entries?

Thanks again.

No, you don't have to remove them from the Registry. I do as a matter
of normal operation, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it then it
is perfectly OK to leave them as they are. They will take up minimal space.
