Why is it that whenever I delete a message it takes longer than it
should?

Please help us to help you. What message? From where? In what program? How
long does it take? How long do you think it should take?

For information on how to make a good newsgroup posting, read
http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

That has far more to do with your internet connection and the people running
your web mail than it does with Windows XP home edition.

any message from web mail in windows xp home edition

You didn't answer some of the questions I asked. How long does it take? How
long do you think it should take?

But if you're deleting a message in Webmail, you're not deleting it locally,
but on a particular server somewhere on the internet. You also didn't tell
us anything about what webmail you use. How long it takes has nothing to do
with Windows; it has to do with the speed of your internet connection,
and--probably most important--the server, its connection to the internet,
its software, how much use it gets, etc.
